Who do you need to be to do the work?And no, this isn't about asking how far you need to stop being yourself and start being somebody else in order to fit in and get stuff done. The question was one posed by Rob Hopkins' guest Walidah Imarisha on episode 100 of the From What If to What Next podcast. It's a fascinating and wide-ranging conversation and, typical of the series, explores how we think about time and draw on different perceptions of it in order to imagine and create alternative futures which work towards greater social justice. As I consider the question this morning, 'who you need to be' is an invitation to consider which version of yourself, with all your many parts, you need to bring to the work this week. It includes recognising your connection to the past and the future. So you might find yourself pondering other questions such as: What do you need to have explored in your imagination or dreams of the future?
